My idea of design has continually changed. The design process itself seems to be a wicked problem that's always mutating, both tackling and sometimes perpetuating society's problems. And I constantly grasp for the words to describe to others why design is so important to me as a result. Explaining interdisciplinary methodology is not always so easy. Describing a desire to "do good" and "make more meaningful" does not translate the same way to others as it does to me. It doesn't matter to me what route is taken, but I want to help create more ecologically balanced systems. I want to give people joy and thought, whether my hand in that is visible or not. I want every day I take my routes to be more beautiful and well-built. I am inspired to this by the people I live my life with, whether I know them for ten minutes or ten years. They keep me honest, ambitious and creative. These people are what make up my design philosophy.
